About Us

Mission Statement

The Office of Off-Campus Student Services advances the mission of the University of Connecticut and Division of Student Affairs by enhancing the experience and supporting the success of off-campus and commuter students. The office serves as an advocate for students and centralized resource for off-campus living. Furthermore, the office strives to intentionally design opportunities to improve the quality of community life, foster maturation of independent life skills, promote development of responsible community members and cultivate involvement in the University, Storrs/Mansfield and surrounding communities.

Meet the Staff

Jim Hintz, Director

Prior to joining the University of Connecticut staff, Jim served as the first Coordinator of Off-Campus Living at Ohio University and was promoted to Assistant Director of Campus Life for Off-Campus and Community Services. He earned both a Master's degree in College Student Personnel and a Bachelor's degree in Social and Managerial Science from Ohio University in Athens, OH. While earning his degrees at Ohio University, Jim was actively involved on campus, including service as the chairperson for the Center for Student Legal Services Board of Directors and two-term President of the Ohio University Student Senate.

Ashley Hudd, Program Assistant

Before joining the Off-Campus Student Services Office Ashley worked in the Department of Residential Life at the University of Connecticut. While earning her Bachelor’s Degree at Eastern Connecticut State University Ashley was involved in many programs such as the Willimantic Town-Gown Committee and serving as President of the local sorority Phi Sigma Alpha. She was actively involved in volunteer programs such as Toys-for-Tots and the Special Olympics. Ashley hopes to help further assist students and the Town of Mansfield with the resources that Off-Campus Student Services provides.
